Alright, its time to talk about the elephant (and piggie) in the room. Mo Willems, the author of the Knuffle Bunny, Pigeon and Elephant and Piggie series has completed his final Gerald and Piggie book. The 25th book in the series “The Thank You Book“, is apparently , sniff…the last in the series of adventures of our favorite elephant and pig.
But, instead of being sad, reread some of these amazing and deceptively simple books. The hard part is picking out your favorite in all the wonderful titles. I personally love, “There Is a Bird on Your Head!” and “Should I Share My Ice Cream?” What are your favorite titles in the Gerald and Piggie series?
Even though saying good-bye is hard, we’ll have all the copies of their adventures at the library for you to check out whenever you want to revisit these old friends. Of course, we’ll have their final adventure, “The Thank You Book” which will be released May 3, 2016.
And if you’re still not ready to say goodbye, take a trip to the New York Historical Society Museum and library. “The Art and Whimsy of Mo Willems”, is a tour throughout the writer/artists career from his work on Sesame Street, his bus obsessed pigeon, a girl and her bunny and, of course, the stories of friendship we have come to love with Gerald and Piggie. The exhibit runs from March 18-September 25, 2016.
